Fairchild Medical Center Earns Statewide Recognition for Excellence in Maternal Care

Fairchild Medical Center has been honored with two prestigious statewide awards from the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC), recognizing the hospital’s exceptional commitment to maternal safety, evidence-based care, and continuous quality improvement.
The awards celebrate Fairchild Medical Center’s dedication to delivering high-quality care for mothers and babies while fostering a culture centered on patient safety and clinical excellence.
Fairchild Medical Center received the Quality & Sustainability Award: Maternal Safety Standards Implementation (Hypertension/Preeclampsia) for successfully implementing CMQCC Maternal Safety Standards and evidence-based practices focused on the recognition and treatment of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy. The award recognizes hospitals that have effectively standardized care and documented these practices through the Maternal Data Center.
The hospital also received the MDC Superstar Award for Small Birth Volume Hospitals, honoring outstanding participation in the CMQCC Maternal Data Center through data submission, quality improvement initiatives, and a sustained commitment to using data to improve maternal health outcomes.
“These awards are a testament to the incredible dedication of our entire obstetrics team,” said OB/MedSurg Manager Maria Foster. “From our bedside nurses and physicians to support staff and quality champions, every member of our team has contributed to creating a safer, higher-quality experience for the families we serve.”
As a small birth-volume hospital, earning statewide recognition is especially significant. The awards demonstrate that excellence in maternal care is driven not by size, but by a team’s commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, and providing the highest standard of care.
Throughout the past year, Fairchild Medical Center’s obstetrics team has worked diligently to strengthen maternal safety practices, improve documentation, participate in comprehensive quality initiatives, and implement evidence-based protocols designed to improve outcomes for mothers and infants.
“These awards recognize far more than policies and data,” the team shared. “They reflect the compassion, teamwork, and unwavering commitment our caregivers bring to every patient, every day.”
Fairchild Medical Center remains committed to advancing maternal health through ongoing quality improvement efforts and ensuring families throughout Siskiyou County have access to exceptional, evidence-based obstetrical care close to home.
The hospital extends its gratitude to every member of the OB department whose hard work, dedication, and commitment made this achievement possible. Together, they continue to demonstrate that outstanding maternal care begins with a team committed to excellence.
