Did you know that Stroke is the 5th leading cause of death in the US? In fact, every 40 seconds, someone in the United States experiences a stroke, and every 4 minutes one person will die from a stroke.
In November of 2020, Fairchild Medical Center obtained certification through the Joint Commission, American Heart Association and American Stroke Association as the only Primary Stroke Center between Medford, Oregon and Redding, California. It is our goal to vastly improve the care of those patients affected by stroke in our community.
Fairchild Medical Center is committed to providing safe, evidenced-based care of exceptional quality to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients with signs and symptoms of stroke.
In Siskiyou County approximately 36.4 per 100,000 deaths were attributed to stroke, which is just above the average for the entire state of California which is 36.3 per 100,000 deaths.
• Rapid identification and efficient management of patients presenting with signs and symptoms of acute stroke according to clinical practice guidelines.
• Improve the safety, outcomes and quality of life for our patients and their families by educating and providing resources to prevent recurrence.
• Provide education on prevention and early identification by active participation in community events.
• Ongoing certification as a Primary Stroke Center, accredited through The Joint Commission, American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
