Mood-Boosting Dog Visit

Mental Health Awareness month is an annual observance held in May, focused on raising awareness about mental health, reducing stigma, and promoting support for individuals and families affected by mental health conditions. It serves as a platform to educate the public and encourage conversations about mental well-being.

Spending time with animals has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, while promoting a sense of companionship and well-being. Just petting a dog can boost your mood by increasing “feel good” hormones like serotonin and oxytocin.

This year, Fairchild Medical Center brought some extra joy and comfort to the hospital with a special visit from Rescue Ranch and their therapy dogs—including some adorable pups available for adoption!

Employees were encouraged to take a break, meet some lovable dogs, and enjoy a moment of calm and connection. Rescue Ranch volunteers were also on hand to share information about fostering and adoption opportunities.
