Fairchild Medical Center Earns Silver and Bronze Awards at 2025’s Get With The Guidelines Event
Fairchild Medical Center attended 2025’s Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) event earning both a Silver and a Bronze award in recognition of our team’s commitment to improving stroke care. It was an incredible honor to be acknowledged for our dedication, and we were proud to celebrate this achievement.
Guest speaker and country singer Drake White’s story was truly inspiring – he suffered a stroke while performing on stage and shared his journey through rehabilitation and his determination to return to music. Hearing him speak firsthand about the challenges of recovery and the importance of stroke awareness reinforced why our work in stroke care is so critical.
The International Stroke Conference (ISC) was a phenomenal learning experience. FMC attended sessions on:
- Updated Stroke Guidelines & Best Practices – Ensuring we continue to provide evidence-based care.
- The Future of Stroke Care – How AI and technology are shaping treatment advancements.
- Emergency Stroke Routing & Pre-Hospital Care – The crucial role of EMS teams in early intervention.
- Education & Program Development – Strategies for staff training and building a strong stroke program.
- Using Data to Drive Change – Leveraging metrics to improve patient outcomes.
- Community Engagement & Patient Success Stories – Strengthening stroke awareness through outreach.
- TeleSpecialists & Nurse-Driven Stroke Alerts – One of the most exciting opportunities was attending the TeleSpecialists talk on the impact of nurse-driven stroke alert activation. This allowed FMC to meet the neurologists who provide telemedicine consults for our stroke patients, strengthening our collaboration and understanding of the process.
This year’s conference also included dedicated sessions for rural stroke programs. These sessions gave FMC the chance to connect with other stroke coordinators who face similar challenges and share ideas on improving access to care in rural settings.
The International Stroke Conference has it all; cutting-edge stroke science, groundbreaking technology… and even PUPPY SNUGGLES! Thanks to Watchman for sponsoring a booth in the Science & Technology Hall, where FMC took a break for some much-needed furry therapy. It was a fun and unexpected highlight of the conference!
Overall, this was an incredibly rewarding experience, and FMC is excited to bring back what we’ve learned to continue advancing our stroke program.
