The da Vinci robot does not perform surgery, the surgeon does. It is a precision tool in the skilled and trained hands of the surgeon.
The use of the da Vinci robot allows the surgeon to make smaller, 0.5 - 1cm incisions instead of the typical longer incisions used in laparoscopic and open surgeries.
The surgical services team has not changed and includes the surgeon, RNFA, OR Circulator, Surgical Tech and Anesthesia provider.
If you are in need of a surgical procedure that can be completed utilizing our new da Vinci Robotic Surgical System, your surgeon will discuss the option with you at your surgical consultation.
If you would like to schedule a consultation with an FMC General Surgeon, please call (530) 842-3507 and our team will be happy to assist you.
Fairchild Medical Center General Surgeons are now offering many outpatient surgical procedures utilizing the da Vinci Surgical System.
Robotic surgery is the future, and it's here now at Fairchild Medical Center. Surgical procedures using robotic techniques allow for smaller incisions, leading to shorter recovery times and improved patient experience. Robotic surgery also allows surgeons to reach locations difficult to access by hand.
Our FMC General Surgeons have been trained in robotics surgery and will be offering it as an option for many of their patients based on the patient's needs and the type of surgery needed.
The use of a surgical robot provides better visualization for the surgeon, magnifying the view of the surgical area and even providing a 3D high-definition view for the surgeon. Better visualization and access to areas difficult to reach or inaccessible by hand and results in better outcomes due to more delicate tissue handling.
Our new surgical robot will be an integral part of our surgical services team here at FMC, and we'd like to give it a name. We'll be accepting name entries until Monday, December 6, 2021. Finalists will be announced on Monday, December 13, 2021.
The winning name will be chosen by our Surgical Services team and announced on Monday, December 20, 2021.
