Please Welcome S. Robert Kim, MD - Urologist
Dr. Kim has specialized in Urology since 1985. He joins Fairchild Medical Clinic after holding a busy Bay Area practice for nineteen years and most recently
practicing in Sunnyside, WA. Dr. Kim is happy to see patients full-time at Fairchild Medical Clinic and plans to live and work in Siskiyou County until his retirement.

Dr. Kim's services include prevention and treatment of urology issues: impotence & men’s health, bladder dysfunction, prostate biopsy, kidney
stone treatment, vasectomy, cancer surgery, and more.

Fairchild Receives Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval™
for health care quality and safety

By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for health care quality and safety, Fairchild Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval™.

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's health care through voluntary accreditation. 

"Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in an organization's performance and the outcomes of care," says Mark Pelletier, R.N., M.S., executive director, Hospital  Programs, Accreditation and Certification Services, The Joint Commission. "The community should be proud that Fairchild is focusing on the most challenging goal -- to continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels."

CEO Jonathon Andrus spoke of his pride in a staff whose members ask what needs to be done to be accredited by The Joint Commission.  "In addition, they appreciate the educational aspect of the survey and the opportunity to interact with the team of surveyors." He called the accreditation, "proof of an organization-wide commitment to provide quality care on an ongoing basis."

Fairchild Officially Welcomes
Hospitalist - Nurse Practitioners
Although our Hospitalist- Nurse Practitioners Janice Barfield, GNP and Linda Jo Yawn, FNP have been with us for some time now, please join us in officially welcoming them to Fairchild Medical Center. Our Hospitalist-Nurse Practitioners will be assisting our Hospitalist seven days a week.

Foundation Contributes $250,000 Toward Emergency Department Expansion Cost

Fairchild Medical Center was presented with money raised by Fairchild Medical Center Foundation to help with the cost of expanding and upgrading the hospital’s Emergency Department. The Foundation raised $250,000; half of which came from hospital employees and the balance from members of our community.

Introducing Fairchild's New Emergency Entrance &
Waiting Room

On January 8, 2008, Fairchild Medical Center Emergency Department opened the new separate entrance for the Emergency Department as a way to improve delivery of healthcare services for our community.  This addition created a comfortable waiting area, private registration, triage area, and a drop-off/pick-up space and 9 additional parking spaces.  The waiting room is equipped with a wide screen TV and canteen area for the over 1,100 patients and their families who visit the Emergency Department monthly.  Many area residents have donated towards the project, and a recognition plaque and event thanking our donors is scheduled for March, 2008.
