Have you had your DEXA scan?

Patients (women over 65 and men over 70) with a family history of osteoporosis/osteopenia, or who have experienced a bone fracture as an adult should have an annual or bi-annual bone density scan, commonly called a DEXA scan.

TALK TO YOUR PRIMARY CARE OR ORTHOPEDIC PROVIDER

To learn if you’re a candidate for a bone density (DEXA) scan talk to your primary care or orthopedic provider. At Fairchild Medical Center we offer DEXA scans on Tuesday and Friday with appointments available from 8am to 3pm.

Bone density scans are safe and painless and use X-ray technology. The scan compares your personal bone density to the peak bone density a person should have reached between the ages of 20 and 25 and who is your same gender and ethnicity.

Once you have a referral from your primary care provider or orthopedic provider please call (530) 842-4121 and ask for our Imaging Department. Or stop by the hospital Monday-Friday from 8am to 4pm to make an appointment in person.
